Mango Cars began as a simple list, kept on a spreadsheet, of the small garages and family-run outfits around Mahe that would meet a plane at the airport or drop a car at a guesthouse in Beau Vallon. Over the years, since the name first appeared on the islands back in 2009, that list grew into a proper comparison site covering suppliers on Mahe, on Praslin and around Victoria. What has not changed is the basic idea: we do not own or run a fleet of vehicles. We compare what local suppliers offer - the car, the price, the pickup point, the conditions - and point visitors to the supplier whose offer suits them, so they can complete the booking directly.
The Seychelles is not a single destination behind the wheel. Mahe has winding, hilly roads and a real airport handover; Praslin has quieter lanes and its own small fleet of cars that never leave the island; Victoria is compact enough that a car matters mostly for getting out of town. We built the site around that reality rather than pretending one page fits every island.
Every car shown on the site belongs to a local supplier. The rental agreement, the handover and the terms are always with that supplier, not with us - we simply lay the offers side by side.
We have driven the serpentines above Beau Vallon, waited on the same ferry queue for Praslin, and asked suppliers directly how their no-deposit terms actually work in practice.
Where a supplier asks for a deposit or a credit card, we say so on the offer itself, rather than leaving visitors to find out at the counter.
Mahe, Praslin, Victoria and the SEZ airport each get their own page, because logistics, prices and road conditions differ enough that one general page would not be honest.
A quick search for car rental in the Seychelles turns up dozens of small suppliers, most with a handful of cars, a WhatsApp number and no real website. Some are excellent and reliable; prices and conditions can still vary a lot from one to the next for what is effectively the same small hatchback. Comparing them properly - price, pickup location, fuel policy, deposit or no deposit - takes time that most visitors do not have between booking flights and packing. That is the gap Mango Cars tries to fill: one place to see what is actually on offer before deciding where to rent a car.
We are not trying to be the biggest operator on the islands, and we are not a car rental company ourselves. We would rather stay a comparison service that visitors trust because the information on each offer is accurate, than grow into something that has a reason to favour one supplier over another.
